Photorealism is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic media, in which an artist studies a photograph and then attempts to reproduce the image as realistically as possible in another medium/material.
Students will create a photorealistic drawing of "sweet things"! Students will learn how to use colored pencils to create the illusion of three-dimensions. Students will experiment with using complimentary colors to create neutrals for shadows. This project will also examine texture... how do we create the illusion of a glossy highlight? The illusion of foil? The illusion of wrapping? The illusion of cake-like textures? The difficulty of the subject matter is up to each student. We may want to ZOOM-IN on the subject matter and crop it to create an interesting composition.

Using a ZOOMED-IN and CROPPED Image
This method allows the student to be free from the exactness that is required for a full Photo-realistic drawing. (a little less pressure, but can be equally if not more beautiful!)
