Non- Objective 2D Design
DESIGN BRIEF: Create a Non-Objective 2-D Design that incorporates a clear understanding of the Elements & Principles of Art & Design. The artwork should be created using Charcoal as a new medium. There should be a clear area of Emphasis as well as good compositional skills developed. Please pay attention to the rule of thirds when creating an area of emphasis.
What is Non-Objective Art? A work of art that does not represent or depict a person, place or thing in the natural world. Also called Abstract art or nonrepresentational art. CRITERIA & CONSTRAINTS:

PROCEDURE: Step 1: In your sketchbook, create at least 4 THUMBNAIL sketches using the four different composition types listed below. Create 4 Different Composition Types:

Step 2: Choose your best thumbnail sketch. Then, using newsprint paper, enlarge your sketch to full size paper. Remember to first create a 1-inch border on your paper.
Step 3: Setup Final Copy paper with a 1-inch border. On the back of your newsprint paper, use a light layer of charcoal to cover the page. Tape your scrap copy on top of your final copy paper to get ready to transfer. Using a sharp pencil, trace over your pencil lines on your scrap copy. Periodically check to be sure the charcoal is transferring over to your final paper. (You only need to use two small pieces of tape at the top of your paper when transferring so you can lift and check your work)
